Dear WAY FM Christian Radio 88.1
WAY FM Christian Radio |
WAY FM should be setting the example of how Christians should be the salt of the earth and the light to the world. Instead we are dismayed that WAY FM personnel discourage Christians from being the salt and light that they should be, especially when it comes to the Pro Life issues of the day. Read the below. And Pray for WAY FM that they will become a shinning light to our community.
Your unwillingness to respond to my emails regarding this matter confirms that you stand by your WAY FM commentary opposing sidewalk ministry at abortion clinics, which is tantamount to saying you are not really pro-life, which is a totally unacceptable for a Christian ministry. Your ministry is fundamentally good, but only as long as it sticks to fundamental Christian principles. The damage you did in the minds of hundreds of young people who heard the irresponsible remarks I described below, must be undone with a public apology that condemns these statements and carries out a reasonable informational campaign that treats abortion as sin and respects the ministry of those who minister there.
We intend to approach your failure as the sin of a brother in Biblical terms and come to you directly to reach correction and restoration. If you continue to ignore us, we will take this matter to the larger church in various ways, including such actions as taking it directly to the crisis pregnancy centers in the 20 states in which you operate, taking it to the national pro-life organizations and to the larger churches in the cities from which you broadcast.
Please let us know if you are willing to work with us on this matter?
Respectfully,
Reverend James R. Henderson

Subject: Disappointed that tonight, Friday night, your on air person, Wally editorialized that he does not believe in abortion protests......WAY FM Radio has hurt the pro-life movement...........
Dear Sir:
I believe WAY FM has made a serious mistake saying on the air that you do not believe in abortion protests. As you know adolescents are particularly susceptible to the opinions of people they see as media personalities. That is why these comments, which focused more on the pregnant mother than the child or the sin, even with a song played and repeated about walking in her shoes, serves to be overly sympathetic to the pregnant girl, ignoring the baby and the destructive and sinful aspect of abortion, serving to help justify abortion and undermining the valid ministry of sidewalk counseling, which saves babies and helps pregnant girls, as well as saving souls. When I called the studio to talk to the on-air people and asked to make a comment, the person I talked to tried to minimize and justify their view based on the bad behavior of abortion protesters. When he would not let me give the opportunity to represent the Biblical view, he brushed me off saying that a representative of a national pro-life group had already been given the opportunity to speak, which sounded like they were giving equal time to both sides. If this is true, which organization was it? The closest thing to any kind of explanation I got was that they were only talking about loud, extreme protests. If this is true, why was the major discussion emphasis not on the validity and value of the vast majority of sidewalk protests and the need for all Christians to participate and support abortion protests?
I can tell you about abortion protests, preaching the Gospel for all to hear, taking abuse, saving souls and babies and my wife and I paying the pre-natal expenses to save babies, which we have done before, am doing now and will do again. When you go to the hospital after the birth of the saved child and hold a beautiful baby that was saved from being ripped to pieces, you become very passionate about the need to stop abortion. And yes, sometimes we are loud because of the urgent need to convince her and her boy friend to re-consider, but I can say that in 18 years of going to abortion clinics I have never heard a pregnant girl abused personally, but if you think the tragedy of a young girl killing her baby and ruining her life should not evoke righteous anger you are mistaken.
I did not hear your remarks, but I have copied Pastor Mike Lee who did and I’m sure he would be glad to give you more details.
This will take more than a simple apology to help. It will take a long term effort by WAY FM to encourage young people to get involved in pro-life ministry, to go minister at abortion clinics, if you are going to try to undo the damage you did. I hope you will, because anything less damages your credibility.

Bob, as a pastor and one of the pro-life leaders in our state disappointed that WAY-FM would allow such comments to be made in whatever context; While I did not hear his comments, I am receiving calls from people who did hear..just saying on the air that you do not believe in abortion protests by many young people in the wrong direction to make them believe that going to abortion clinics to stand against abortion is wrong. For this to be sent out over your network has done incalculable harm. At a typical abortion protest we pray, counsel girls, and also pay pre-natal expenses if it saves babies(as we are doing now, and my wife is now taking one young woman to her appointments doctor appointments, and yes, I preach the gospel to lost people inside murdering babies, and yes this is loud because they can not hear me inside with a soft voice. Recently our town saw at least 14 babies saved in conjunction with the 40 days for Life prayer vigil. Do not you think such a prayerful protest was worthwhile even if only one baby was saved? What price would you put on the life of one of them? It is wrong for WAY FM 88.1to say on the air that you do not believe in abortion protests. This tarnishes the name of WAY FM, 89.7.
I called in to offer a rebuttal but your people would not let me comment.
Thank you,
Fr. James Henderson, ICCEC
