As featured in JP Election Brief: 2012 Retention Elections on July 5, 2012.
In Florida, judicial retention elections for Supreme Court justices and appellate court judges are held once every six years. This year, three Supreme Court justices and 15 appellate court judges face retention.
The Supreme Court race is proving to be especially contentious, as various conservative groups and other individuals have been fighting against the retention of Justices Barbara Pariente, Fred Lewis and Peggy Quince. The organization, Restore Justice 2012, is trying to oust these justices on the grounds of inappropriate judicial activism--pointing to a 2010 healthcare ruling and a 2006 death penalty ruling. In addition, the Southeastern Legal Foundation was arguing a lawsuit that accused the justices' of illegally using court employees to file their election paperwork.

Arizona is noted for its desert climate in its southern half, where there are very hot summers and quite mild winters. The northern half of Arizona also features forests of pine, Douglas fir, and spruce trees.Pro Choice Candidates Arizona

Primary Election: August 2012I understand that many people assume that my own absolute rejection of the abortion doctrine implies an absolute condemnation of those who defend it, or even those who cannot find the will or understanding to stand with me to oppose it. And I agree that it would be a mistake to conclude that all those who accept abortion take equally immoral stances on every issue. But I emphatically disagree that the solution is to cooperate in the effort to put abortion on the back burner. If we continue to raise the issue it is actually a sign of our deep respect and concern for the unborn and for those who right now reject the pro-life position.
Pro Life Candidates California

The name California once referred to a large area of North America claimed by Spain that included much of modern-day Southwestern United States and the Baja California peninsula. Beginning in the late 18th century, the area known as Alta California, comprising the California territory north of the Baja Peninsula, was colonized by the Spanish Empire as part of New Spain. In 1821, Alta California became a part of Mexico following its successful war for independence. Shortly after the beginning of the Mexican-American War in 1846, a group of American settlers in Sonoma declared an independent California Republic in Alta California. Though its existence was short-lived, its flag became the precursor for California's current state flag. American victory in the war led to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in which Mexico ceded Alta California to the United States. Western areas of Alta California became the state of California, which was admitted as the 31st state on September 9, 1850. Pro life candidates will be selected in the June primary. The California Pro-Life Council, the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, will Republican U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina.

It is often said that defenders of the right to life harm their cause by passing an absolute moral judgment on their opponents, thus implying that defenders of abortion are unqualifiedly evil. We are accused of being close-minded and dogmatic, and of making mutually respectful discussion impossible.
We are told that within the Republican Party itself there are many pro-choice people who consider themselves to be quite moral, and who even agree that morality is the basis of the party, and that the destruction of the family is at the heart of many of our national problems. Pro-lifers are accused of unreasonably treating the pro-choice position of such people as a sign that their more general moral convictions are not sincere.
Anti abortion yards signs send the message.
